  1. It looks really good Brooke! You have a really nice contrast with shadows and highlights and a good range of midtones in between. I'm not sure if it's the photo, but I'm having a hard time telling what's in the picture. It seems that your objects aren't very clearly defined. I can tell where different tones are, because of your good use of the charcoal, but I also don't know exactly what the objects are. And maybe that's exactly what you're going for in which case more power to you!

  3. Yeah about the photo, just to everyone, it was taken from my I-phone so the quality sucks.
To Brookie: this is turning out quite well brooke. Gotta say that this is the best still-life I've seen you do! I still think that you should have not had such a small portion of the picture just so it's easier to tell what's there. You might want to think about that a little. But this is one of my favorite pieces that you've ever done. Keep up the good work!

  4. Hey, Brrk. This is really well done and I am envious. I love how there are a variety of tones and shades and stuff like that. It really makes it all more interesting. And now I will either need to burn it or work on mine like a maniac because it is too good. But the only thing is that i can’t see or understand what the objects are. I know you’re not done and you hate it but it’s good. Just fix them objects and you are ready to go.

  5. Brooke, this looks great so far. There are some great shadows and different tones in there. As others have said, it's a little hard to tell what exactly's in it though. To fix/improve that, maybe you could create a little more depth and separation between objects if that makes any sense. Also, there is a little empty space in the bottom/bottom-right of the drawing but maybe you're planning to put more in. I am excited to see the finished piece.

  7. very cool so far. I agree with fendi that there needs to be more highlighting. I think that the contrast in many of your pieces needs to be..amped up. It would be interesting to see you do a piece that is super dramatic in its shading..
other than that it looks awesome!
also, itd be sweet if you'd post a picture of the actual objects to have something to compare your work to.
    nice job brookey, dear.
